I changed my routine quite a lot since my last post (I want my hair back!).
First of all, I cut about 15cm of my hair in the beginning of this year. My ends were not in a good shape at all, due do previous hair colors and harsh treatments. I wanted to start the year with healthier hair, no split ends and a new routine.
I finally bought Kinky Curly products and I’m really happy with them. They help me to define my curls and allow me not to wash my hair every other day.
Then, I wanted to try another shampoo, without sulfates. I had an organic shampoo with quite harsh sulfates and don’t wanted to use it anymore. It’s pretty hard to find organic beauty products in Ukraine but I eventually found a russian organic shampoo for a good price.
This is what I currently use 2 times a week.
From top to bottom, left to right :
- Natura Siberica Protective Shampoo for Dry Hair
- Kinky Curly Knot-Today leave-in
- Garnier Ultra-Doux Avocado-Shea Butter conditioner
- Kinky Curly Curling Custard gel
- Capsiol hair treatment oil
- Home made Flax seed gel
- Henna (mine is from Alepia)
I could add Shea butter and coconut oil and a water spray to the pic but I kind of forgot :)
What I do now :
I apply Capsiol on my roots, massage a bit and then apply my conditioner with Shea butter and/or coconut oil on the ends. Capsiol contains salicylic acid, Castor oil and Cayenne pepper tincture + alcohol. It makes the hair grow faster and healthier. I leave it for 30/45min and then wash my hair, apply conditioner (even on my roots, it gives them more volume) and rinse with water.
Then, I apply Kinky Curly Knot-Today on my hair still soaking wet, scrunch them a little bit and apply Kinky Curly Curling Custard and flax seed gel. My head is upside down during the process.
After that, I don’t touch my hair at all and I don’t use the plopping method anymore. This point is really important for me, I have a lot less frizz when I don’t touch my hair when they’re still wet. Then I blow dry my hair and I’m ready to go.
This routine takes me 30/45min from washing to blow drying.
My hair dryer is not a high end product at all, it’s travel sized and basic. It even doesn’t have a cool shot button :)
What I want now is buying a new hair dryer with a diffuser to define my curls a little more and make them curlier (especially in the back of my head).
I’m happy with the products I use at the moment and I’m not planning to change my routine as I have the best results I ever had since I started the Curly Girl method.
I try to use organic and effective products, they can be hard to find or a little bit pricey, but when I compare my hair now and back then, I can say : they worth it.
